Looking like it is right from the Dark side, "Palpatine" has been completely disassembled and refinished with Beautiful House of Kolor Paints. A hand sanded, multi layer paint job, with silver metallic dust has incredible depth and gives the "Black Galaxy" paint its meaning. All Matte Black finished parts are SEM "Hot Rod Black" and has a smooth silky appearance. Palpatine started as a 12,800 mile 1984 Standard that had been forgotten in the garage and off the road for over 15 years. This is the last year of the Standard Goldwing and this one looks the part!. Only 75 Miles have been put on it, (at time of this writing and climbing, as I am riding and continue to tune and shakedown) and its BAD ASS!.
The first thing you do to an old Wing is get it ready for the road, Carburetor Bank, Fuel tank, serviced, New fuel pump ,New Timing Belts, all Brakes service, and fluid replaced, front forks serviced with new seals, reconditioned rear shocks, New Dunlop Tires
This Goldwing boasts a custom seat. Assembled using a Hand welded and fabricated sheet metal Seat pan, Neoprene padding, and a Custom cover made by Drew at "Gravios Auto Upholstery" a 60 Year old family business and landmark in St Louis!
The rear fender is the original fender modified by filling all holes, smoothing bodywork, and redesigning the rear fender as well as the seat mounts. I mounted fender bolts through the frame from the inside of wheel well for a clean look.
By utilizing some metal cone, sheet metal and the OEM Bracket as well as the OEM Fuel, and temp gauge, I created this "Darkwing" Gauge set. Aftermarket gauge with electric Speedometer and electronic Tachometer with Analog Tach sweep, paired with the Custom enclosed OEM gauges is a ONE of a Kind.
By trimming the original windscreen down with a carefully selected slope and light alteration to the turn signals I took the original to a whole new level. All new audio components sound great and are Bluetooth compatible.
This bike was stored for years and has 4200 miles on the odometer. It was brought to me for a mechanical and appearance refreshing only. This is the original paint and graphics as well as the tires. It truly a collector or enthusiast dream!
